Alberta Environment requires wetland regulatory submissions to be signed off by a qualified, currently-designated practitioner before they can be filed. That sign-off is a legal statement that the assessment meets provincial standards — it isn't a formality, and it's the step that most often creates delay when it's handled by a separate firm.
Wetland regulatory work in Alberta often moves through two firms: one to do the field assessment, another to provide the authenticating sign-off. That split adds handoffs, timeline risk, and cost.
